Come live with us but not actually with us!
We are a small family who have a house in Vancouver, WA. We use to live in this here basement apartment for 3 years with our two old lady dogs. We just bought the house so my husband and I and our 8 year old little girl will be upstairs. The house is in a great neighborhood but it is not super walkable because it is the suburbs. I have definitely walked to DT Vancouver before though and to the Natural Grocers that is like half a mile away. We are not partiers but a quiet family. The kid is pretty curious so if she sees you, she might talk to you. The dogs are super friendly and we are open to well-trained dogs and prefer no cats but might be persuaded. I would prefer if you have an animal, it is not one that is left home all day and has separation anxiety. I tend to work from home a lot. My partner, Jordan, works in Portland as a striking coach and gone most days. Peregrin, our 8 year old is with us Tues-every other Fri. We go to bed early and get up early. Right now, because of COVID, Pere is home with me for school or she goes with her dad to work. I am a photographer and producer and usually travel a lot for work but again COVID. I do prefer a quieter tidy space due to being here so much.
This is a 2 bedroom 1 bath/shower mother-in law apartment for $1000 + utilities.
It is about a 900sqft space with a good storage area as well. The photos below are how we had it set up. We had already moved the table upstairs but it was honestly, more than enough space for all of us.
The only thing you share is the kitchen. We have managed to do this with two different roommates and honestly never had an issue. Most of the time we never saw each other. There is a washer/dryer and you will have your own fridge in the garage as well. There is a separate entrance, patio, & small yard. We are pretty open to sharing the rest of the yard and we also have gardening beds in the front and a hot tub in the backyard that we will be cleaning up.
Open to couples, small family like us, or friends! You are also welcome to paint and make it your own space!
I did the best I could with what we had to make this space feel cozy and inviting. Tons of my friends said they could nap here, so I took it as a compliment. The empty space by the stairs was where we had the dining table and chairs.
There is a huge walk-in closet in this room. I didn’t photograph it because it was a mess.
This is the smaller room but the gets all the natural light in the apartment. There are built in wood shelves but no closet here.
Pere wanted a black and purple room so I apologize but maybe you like purple!
